How Does It Work

National Citizen Service is a flagship government initiative linked with Big Society and a national summer programme. It is a once in a lifetime chance for years 11 & 12 to take on challenges, learn new skills and make a real difference in your local community by creating your own social action project.

Find out what you're capable of by joining us for a week's team-building outdoor activities. Staying away from home, you'll get to know your team as you are guided through challenging physical team and group activities by skilled instructors.

Time to brush up on existing skills and learn new ones as you get stuck into a week of skill-building workshops. If you are hoping to identify skills for your CV, or want to share skills with others, now's your chance!

Here's where your ideas to make a real difference in your community can come to life. Having built up momentum, ideas and skills, your team will meet with local charities and entrepreneurs whilst planning a social action project. You will get to present ideas to our panel of 'Dragons' and bid for funding.

Time to put your project planning into practice. With 30 hours to make it happen, You will be amazed what you can create when working with other 16 year olds from your community.

After all the excitement, you are invited to join us for a prestigious graduation ceremony at Thorpe Park and use your NCS to work towards other accredited volunteering awards. you'll feel energised and unstoppable after an incredible summer!
