Venue and dates
Winter Camp will be held at an indoor residential centre near Birmingham from Thursday 27th December 2018 to Tuesday 1st January 2019.
Transport
The cost of JLGB Winter Camp includes transport from central pick-up points and all participants should travel on the transport provided.
Anyone who is travelling to or from a place other than their local pick up point, please indicate this on the application form so that appropriate travel arrangements can be made. Pick up points are subject to the number of participants attending from each area, for example, Leeds and Liverpool may be required to travel from Manchester depending on the number of applications received from each location.
Full travel details will be communicated closer to the start of camp.
Accommodation
In a heated and fully indoor cabin environment, all participants will sleep in en-suite bedrooms of no more than five people. Duvets and pillows will be provided, so you won't need to bring sleeping bags, ensuring that participants get the home comforts alongside the traditional camp experience.
The building contains many large activity rooms, including an indoor sports hall, large productions hall, dining rooms and many comfortable lounges. There are also outdoor spaces on site which we will use, weather permitting, to make sure everyone gets some fresh air!
We will do our best to accommodate your requests so that you can share a room with your friends. Please clearly indicate on your application form the first and last names of those you wish to share with. Please note that it may not be possible to share with all those listed, however we will endeavour to ensure that you share a room with at least one of the names specified.
Food
At Winter Camp, our talented professional chefs serve delicious meals freshly prepared on-site to a set kosher menu.
We are able to cater for those who are vegetarian or have special dietary needs or allergies (e.g. gluten free) just make sure you mention it on your online application form.
We think it's vital to provide a good-quality balanced diet for everyone on camp - especially as you'll be running around using up a lot of energy. That's why you'll get the option of a hot breakfast, and a starter and dessert at lunch and dinner time. All meals are served in the dining room where you'll be able to sit with your friends and catch up on all the fun you've been having.
There'll also be a tea-time treat, a tuck shop to stock up on kosher nosh, a 24 hour 'hydration station', and hot chocolate and biscuit before you head to bed for the night.

This is a great way for people who are new to camp to meet people their own age and make friends as they find their feet. When you arrive, be sure to look out for the Fresher's team who will be waiting for you!
Study Room
We understand that the time of camp can fall in a key revision period for some of our older participants. In order to ensure that they have the best opportunity to revise, we have a supervised quiet study room open all day. Participants are welcome to use it whenever they'd like, as long as there is communication with their group leaders. If you wish to register for use of this facility, please indicate so on your online application.
Religious Services
Winter Camp is a fully Kosher site and the programme is Shomrei Shabbat. There are also facilities available for daily prayer services and those who wish to take part should let the camp team know beforehand via their application form.
Welfare and Medical Services
We have a high ratio of leaders to young people, plus a staff team specifically designated for medical and welfare care - so there's always someone for you to go to if you have a problem, no matter how big or small.
As part of our online application process every parent is required to complete the medical section for their child. The information provided is treated as completely confidential. We feel we can deal with almost anything as long as we are forewarned.
