What Are The Rules?
The competition will be based on the "Short Preparation" Inter-Varsity format (the normal format for University debating). Each team will comprise two speakers, who must be from the same school/club/organisation. Speakers cannot normally be changed between rounds.
There will be 3 preliminary rounds with teams scored on the place they come in the debate (1st scoring 3 points, 2nd 2, 3rd 1 and 4th 0). The top 4 teams on the tab will then advance to the final. If there is a tie on the tab after the three preliminary rounds, positions will be decided on speaker points.
Eligibility
The 2011 competition is open to teams of young Jewish people across the UK from schools, youth movements and clubs, communities and individual synagogues. Pupils in years 10 to 13 (Scotland: S3-S6) are eligible to take part.
